Well, these are some of the interesting pickings you missed around my facebook this week;
You may have heard how green coffee extract is are the new diet drug? Guaranteed to slim you down? Well, not so much. It turns out the original study back in 2012 was completely botched with the lead investigator entirely misrepresenting figures and sometimes just making shit up.
Organizing Junkie Laura has a great post on how to make decluttering easy by putting a dedicated “Donation Box” in your closet. I’ll be trying this one out, just as soon as I find some space to put a donation box…
While we’re on the topic of decluttering, from a new book available now, Chris Guillebeau presents the idea of keeping only what brings you joy. For added win on the book it contains some of my favourite words – Tidying, Japanese, Art, Decluttering and Organizing. Heck, pretty much the entire title is a hot-button for me.
My favourite quote is Peter Heller‘s on how we’re barreling down towards the extinction of the human race and its our own fault;
We’re in the middle of the Sixth Great Mass Extinction, this one caused by us. We’re losing species at a rate comparable to the dinosaur extinction 65 million years ago. Two-thirds of flowering plants are endangered, 20% to 25% of all mammals. We’ve lost half our wildlife in the last forty years. Jesus. This is unequivocally the Story of Our Time. You don’t need to know the stats to feel the accelerating losses. We all do, every day. We are overwhelmed, bewildered, unmoored. We have committed a crime as a species — no, a sin — for which we can never be redeemed. Literature, which is the canary in the coal mine of our inner landscape, has to respond.
You should go make friends with my facebook page. Trust me, it doesn’t bite.
